Weirdass Animal of the Day: The Indian Giant Squirrel, also known as the Malabar Giant Squirrel, is, as its name suggests, a particularly big-boned tree squirrel species native to the evergreen and mixed deciduous forests of the Indian subcontinent:

What really gives the Indian Giant its appearance of size is its tail.  The tail can be anything up to two feet in length.  Plus it is heavy – a healthy adult weighs in at around four and a half pounds.  With their tan, rust, brown or beige coloring they are possibly the most colorful of the 280 squirrel species. Altogether it looks like it has been metaphorically down the gym and on steroids – in terms of squirrels at least.

I think Jersey Shore’s male cast members may have found their spirit animal.

‘I ran inside and said to the grandchildren, “I’ve got a competition, who can guess which Disney character this is?”, immediately they all shouted “Buzz Lightyear!”.

‘I’ve grown carrots for about ten years and there is particularly stoney ground where we live, so the veggies sometimes tend to fork.

‘However, we’ve never seen anything like this, I couldn’t get over how much it looked like Buzz.’

Kickass Cake of the Day: An xkcd-themed wedding cake by Denville, NJ-based bakery Pink Cake Box.

The top of the cake includes cutouts of the comic characters with a red heart on a wire between them. The entire cake is covered in white fondant with black thin bands at the base of each tier. Equations inspired by this comic decorate the remaining tiers.
