The good part about that is it means that the start of training camp is almost here. This coming Satruday September 11th here in Florida will be known as Hockey Day In Florida. | We finally found out what it takes to make the eternally-deadpan Brad Childress lose his patience with reporters. Just ask him one too many questions about his back-up quarterback.
Apparently, the #2 QB situation was all reporters wanted to talk about during Chilly’s Sunday press conference (not the practice squad?). At some point, it all got to be too much for Chilly, who dropped his familiar droning, quipping, analogizing facade for a moment and let his true exasperation leak out.

| The Kansas City Chiefs will not be plugging their WR holes with former Seahawk TJ Houshmanzadeh. Adam Schefter has just reported via Twitter that the receiver has reached an agreement with the Baltimore Ravens.

Predictably, RB Lumpkin was claimed by Buccaneers, LB Obiozor by Cardinals, NT Toribio by Chiefs, LB Havner by Lions, and C Smith by Seahawks. Packers hoped to bring Lumpkin, Toribio and Obiozor back as part of their eight-man practice squad. Packers hoped to bring RB Lumpkin back on the practice squad to be their quasi-No. 3 tailback. Last year, the Packers lost tailback Sutton to the Panthers in the same way.

Jarrod Dyson Promoted to Kansas City
| With the possibility to expand the active roster in September, the Royals have opted to give Jarrod Dyson a look at the big league level, adding to their stable of center fielders. Dyson, 26, spent the first half of 2010 rehabbing from a high ankle sprain and other bumps and spent much of the second half of the season working his way up through the minors, with stops at Arizona, Wilmington, Northwest Arkansas and Omaha on the way.

Weigann, Belcher And Johnson Open Practice On First Team
| The Kansas City Chiefs appear to have their roster set and now they need to decide who will be on the field first when they take on the San Diego Chargers one week from today.
According to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, Casey Weigmann, Jovan Belcher and Derrick Johnson opened today’s practice on the first team.
Teicher was only able to watch the first few minutes of practice but he also noted that Tamba Hali was back at OLB and that Barry Richardson remained the starting RT as Ryan O’Callaghn is still in the rehab zone.

I’ve not missed a home game in 6 seasons, and I’ve frequently said I just want to see us put up at least 35 points and play a defensive shutout. | The swingin’ Friars from San Diego are in the middle of a historic meltdown. How bad is it? Well, it’s the third worst losing streak in the organizations history, losers of ten straight. | With the offseason additions of Anquan Boldin and Donte’ Stallworth, and today’s signing of T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the Ravens’ receiving corps is looking more formidable than it ever has. Add a healthy Derrick Mason and a rejuvenated Mark Clayton into the mix, and the Ravens have five receivers who could start for most NFL teams. | It doesn’t look like the Kansas City Chiefs will be bringing back former FB Tony Richardson as Pro Football Talk is reporting that Richardson is likely to re-sign with the Jets today.

Leinart Puts the Boot to Booty in Houston
| Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart has found a home. His new home is in Texas with the Houston Texans.
It didn’t take long for Leinart to find his new home, however reports are Houston was the only team that showed any remote interest in signing him after he was dumped by the Cardinals, his only home in his four previous NFL seasons.
Leinart’s signing means the Texans had to dump one of their quarterbacks. The odd man out: John David Booty, another USC alum. That means Leinart will become the third quarterback for the Texans, for now.

| The Ravens have made a huge splash in the post-cut day free agent market, signing former Seattle Seahawks receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh. The former Bengals standout signed a big contract with Seattle last year, only to play one season in the blue and white and whatever other weird colors they wear up there.
